1 May 2015 in Freiburg

Aktuelles – 03. May 2015 – Action
The May Festival of the Freiburg DGB, which would have taken place in the sunshine on a green square near the main railway station, was held under the tram bridge due to constant rain. That sounds uncomfortable, but it was improvised, cosy and nice. Our impression was that the several hundred festival participants were mostly having fun. We also had fun at our stand, although unfortunately it was a small group. In addition to our leaflets and a list of signatures in support of the SuE strike, we offered the following hands-on activity: Visitors to the stand could tick or add to a list of the demands and impositions that are currently too much in their lives. A second list asked what they were missing. One woman made an interesting suggestion: a district centre for all age groups. Finally, people could pin suggestions on a clothes horse as to how we could move from the depressing current situation to a good life.
This led to a number of good conversations, and we also got chatting with some of the organisers of other stands, with appointments to meet and exchange ideas - from Catholic workers to the Alevi cultural association.
