23-24 April 2016, Berlin: Care Revolution network meeting

Aktuelles – 08. January 2016
We would like to use the network meeting to work thematically in depth and to clarify important strategic and structural questions about the work of the network. Care revolution means actively making changes, 1) against the persecution, harassment and lack of support for refugees and against the exploitation of voluntary support, 2) for more self-determination and good care for assistance workers and for a collective agreement and better working conditions for assistance workers, 3) Home care, caring for close people in the private sphere requires time, resources, choices and financial security These three topics are our main focus at the Care Revolution network meeting, and we want to work on them in more depth in working groups in order to refine demands and political strategies. We cordially invite all individuals and groups who would like to get involved. Target question: How can we move from unpaid voluntary work to politicisation and support for social commitment? How can we achieve greater recognition, good pay and resources for care work? Current situation: We are currently experiencing an increasing withdrawal of the state from basic care and the framework conditions in the "care professions" are becoming more and more questionable, while politicians are increasingly focusing on the so-called "strengthening of voluntary work". This is increasingly leading to: - part-time work and wage dumping in the various care professions - 24/7 employment in the private sector - a lack of conditions for rich social contacts, political engagement and times of leisure and ultimately also to - structural violence through framework conditions that violate human dignity With "Care Revolution", we want to bring the care professions, unpaid care work and the undersupply and increasing abuses out of the shadows and into open, critical discussion. And we want to exchange ideas and develop strategies together to stop the current trends (think about it - join in and be part of it ;-) Next preparatory meeting: 05.02.2016 in Frankfurt a.M.
