Care Revolution preached on the 3rd Sunday of Advent in Freiburg

Aktuelles – 23. December 2018 – Action
At the invitation of the Catholic parish of Freiburg Südwest, Care Revolution Freiburg was invited to speak in the series "How does salvation come into the world?". Instead of a sermon, Gabriele Winker gave an impulse during the 3rd Advent service. She emphasised that, in addition to the daily care and help for people in need, there is also a need for people who are actively committed to ensuring that economic and government action does not continue to devalue and offend many people and exclude them from our community by refusing help. She quoted Pope Francis from his apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium: "This economy kills." "The dignity of every human being and the common good are questions that should structure the entire economy." After the service, ten people from the congregation had a very detailed discussion with four representatives of Care Revolution Freiburg. We agreed that there is still a long way to go before Freiburg develops into a city that is committed to securing the livelihoods of all people without prioritising them according to their ability to pay. We also agreed that we must work towards a high-quality social infrastructure in which all those in need receive support according to their wishes from employees who can work under good working conditions.
