Care Revolution calls for 8 March!

Aktuelles – 16. January 2018
Out on 8 March 2018! On International Women's Struggle Day on 8 March, people from different social and cultural backgrounds around the world will take their feminist struggles to the streets together. They stand up for emancipation, self-determination and the visualisation and recognition of unpaid care work. Let us once again become visible as the Care Revolution on this day in 2018! As in previous years, activists are planning actions, events and demonstrations at various locations. An important topic will be supporting the struggles in hospitals for more staff and better working conditions. In many countries today, nursing professions are women*'s jobs. But even in private life, it is often women* who fill the gaps in the state healthcare system with unpaid care work - at the expense of self-care and at the price of poverty and dependency. This applies not only to care, but to all social areas and care work. On 8 March, we want to highlight the high burden on women* in underpaid social professions, in unpaid private care work and in informal care work in private households. The Care Revolution stands for solidarity between different care sectors and the interests of professional care workers, unpaid care workers and people who are dependent on care work. We will not be played off against each other, but demand good working and living conditions for everyone! If you are planning activities on 8 March 2018, please send us reports and photos for our website. If you are looking for fellow campaigners, please contact your regional groups. Here's to a militant Women's Day on which we make the invisible visible!
