Feminist mobilisation on 17 May 2014 in Düsseldorf

Aktuelles – 18. May 2014 – Action
"Chic in the black block"LISA NRW is once again taking part in this year's Blockupy action days in May and in the party to prevent the opening of the ECB in autumn. In addition to its own actions, there will once again be a women's block at the demonstrations - this year under the motto: "Chic in the black block"! In 2013, parts of the "black block" - recognisable by colourful umbrellas, dazzling banners and colours of all kinds - were captured in a police kettle at the Blockupy demonstration 800 metres after the start of the demonstration. The police obviously hoped that this action would divide the demonstration into "the good" and "the less good" - the colourful and the dark. Our response to the police action is: We are all the black block! And we are chic! So throw on your black clothes, get out your sunglasses - in warm weather, the little black dress is also fine. Black clothes and a "drama accessory" - that'll be our signature look. If you're missing a drama accessory - we've got plenty: wigs, hats, scarves, boas and stoles - anything goes.Care work on the ground - flashmob in front of the DGBAt 11.55 am, the "Care work on the ground" flashmob will start, because it's not just care that's on the ground: All over the world, the crisis of capitalism is making it clear that people count for nothing when it comes to profit. The cultural blanket is thin when the winds of crisis tug at it. Whether in healthcare, elderly care, education, our daycare centres or even at home - care work is becoming increasingly precarious. We say: We are resisting! Because only those who resist can stand up. Come to the flash mob "Care work on the ground"!Mark sexism! After the demo we will continue. We will walk to the Kö. Here we will mark advertisements with sexist content and draw attention to the conditions of employees - here in Düsseldorf and worldwide. Our double burden is not child and job! Our double burden is capitalism and patriarchy. We are not overburdened, we are exploited. Care Revolution means re-evaluating work, creating time for resistance, developing ourselves. In short: Care Revolution means breaking with capitalism and patriarchy! And we will not wait for improvements to be promised and brought to us. We know: What we don't do ourselves, we won't get! We will fight back against sexism! The image of women in advertising - the woman as a technically clumsy person - the woman as a sex object or as a dismembered, sexualised body - advertising that feminises the house - all of this is marked by us. We want to attack, expose and highlight all of this together - in the women's block in the demonstration and with the actions on the Kö. Take the ground away from patriarchy and capitalism! Put life at the centre! Rise up! Let's care!
