Women in black for peaceful, climate-just and solidarity-based coexistence

Either humanity abolishes war or war abolishes humanity. Since 4 February 2023, the Women in Black have been doing their rounds in Freiburg again under this heading - dressed in black and in silence. We are thus resuming the tradition of the women's peace movement - as we last did in 2007 on the occasion of the war in Afghanistan.

The action is organised by individuals, including women who are active in Care Revolution Freiburg. We walk very slowly in a circle in the city centre, but also have a small information table where our flyer is displayed and we can talk to interested passers-by.

On the posters we carry, we commemorate the war dead, warn against further escalation and draw attention to the climate catastrophe fuelled by the war. We call for an immediate ceasefire and demand decisions at the negotiating table instead of on the battlefield.

We will be in Freiburg city centre several times a month with our campaign. The Women in Black will also take part in peace actions organised by the Freiburg Peace Forum, climate strike demonstrations and events to mark International Women's Day on 8 March.
