Just in time for 1 May: New brochure on reducing working hours

Aktuelles – 23. April 2024

The AG Erwerbsarbeitszeitverkürzung (EAZV) in the Care Revolution network has completed a small brochure on the reduction of working hours to coincide with 1 May. We have tried to close the gap between flyers and extensive specialist publications on the subject. At the same time, we do not want to look at EAZV solely from the point of view that the labour spent in wage labour should be handled more carefully. This is extremely important, but an ETA that is accompanied by full wage compensation in lower salary groups also leads to less material inequality if the wage compensation is reduced as the hourly wage increases. Reduced working hours leave more time for domestic care work and, in particular, support a more gender-equitable distribution of unpaid work. EAZV also enables greater social participation when people have more time and are less exhausted. It is an essential building block for reducing the production of industrial goods and thus for a socio-ecological reorganisation of society. It is also central to making a way of life attractive that centres on social relationships and solidarity-based security for all.

EAZV is therefore an excellent topic for bringing together trade union struggles with ecological, feminist and anti-poverty struggles.

You can download the brochure here. You can also order it free of charge (preferably a few copies for your group and your stands). Write to the AG at: ag-eazv@care-revolution.org. Please include the number of copies you would like and the address to which they should be sent. If you want to print out the text in brochure format yourself, you can find files here and here.

This brochure was produced in co-operation with and with the support of the Solidarisch Sorgen e.V. association.
