Care Revolution! A response to the increasing pressure on private care work and care professions

Kalender-Icon 12. March 2015
Lecture and discussion with Ann Wiesenthal In order to care for ourselves and others, we need time and resources of all kinds. However, the development of paid and unpaid care and nursing work is pointing in a different direction and is coming under increasing pressure: the privatisation of hospitals and the economisation of care mean that patients are often neglected and employees are overworked. At home, grandma has to be cared for alongside work and housework. Despite social change, this double and triple burden still mostly affects women and is at the expense of their self-care or career. A change of perspective is needed in order to be able to think and shape society from the perspective of caring for oneself and others: A new social movement, the Care Revolution network, is taking the first steps in this direction. It is fighting for social and financial recognition as well as time for working with people. Ann Wiesental is co-organiser of the "Care Revolution Action Conference", which took place in Berlin in March 2014. She is active in the Care Revolution network. http://www.saar.rosalux.de/event/52822/care-revolution-3.html
