The private sphere is political - still! or: When everyday (working) life becomes a crisis

Kalender-Icon 12. October 2016

This event will take place as part of the Change Week on 12 October from 16:00 to 19:30 at HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) in project room 2.102, Überseeallee 16.Overwork in care professions, invisibility of reproductive work, time stress and fear of poverty in old age have much in common. Care work, nursing, education, etc. are difficult to utilise and are therefore under massive pressure to save money and time these days. They are largely carried out by women and are usually poorly paid or not paid at all. We are experiencing the crisis of social reproduction when nobody has time for a chat in hospital, children have to be managed alongside the job and self-care falls by the wayside or the salary of an assistant position is barely enough to live on. In this workshop, we want to look at our everyday experiences, social struggles in the social sphere and the approach of the Care Revolution network.
