Semi-annual network meeting on 19.11.22

Our next nationwide network meeting will take place on Saturday, 19 November . All people who are active in the Care Revolution network, who sympathise with it or who are curious about the network are cordially invited. After the positive experiences of the last few times, the meeting will again take place virtually, from 10.30 am to 5 pm, with a lunch break between 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm. For all those who are not yet (quite) familiar with the principles and working methods of the Care Revolution network, there will be an introduction from 10:00 to 10:30.

After a round of introductions, Annette Schlemm - physicist, philosopher and climate activist - will introduce us to the effects of the climate catastrophe and its significance for us as care workers and care activists. Heatwaves, droughts, flood disasters are effects of global warming that are becoming increasingly noticeable here too. The main victims are still people in the Global South, many of whom are therefore on the run. A great burden and great suffering also lies on those who bear the responsibility for care everywhere. In small groups, we will then discuss and explore questions such as: How do we become capable of acting as care activists living in Germany?

After the lunch break, we will go into working groups. The following are planned:

1) Hospital movement (strike rounds, hospital closures)

2) Social protests - how do we position ourselves from a care perspective?

3) Care as an attitude / care work as a devalued activity: How do we talk about care?

4) Local networking / exchange of experiences: What do we try and what works?

5) Care and migrant organisation. Experiences in co-operation

After a further break, we conclude with setting priorities for the coming six months and with agreements on our work as a network. We will then end the meeting at 5pm.
