Kalender-Icon 10. February 2016
Ann Wiesental from the Care Revolution network: The crisis of social reproductionin the Audimax When it comes to 'the crisis', the public debate usually only refers to the crisis of banks and bankrupt states. But they are not the only ones in crisis, as a look at the precarisation of livelihoods, the care crisis, housing shortages and the like shows. Feminists have developed the theory of the 'crisis of social reproduction' to describe these phenomena arising from the contradictions between the demands of reproduction and capitalist interests that are geared towards maximising profits. This perspective focuses on people's everyday and living conditions and places people's needs at the centre. The increasing gaps in care are structurally due to the contradiction between profit maximisation and the costs of social reproduction.
