Lecture series: Economy is Care

Ina Praetorius, Dr theol.: Economics is carein the lecture theatre Economics has become a kind of leading science from which many people derive their views on "normal" and "right", on the value of relationships and activities. Yet it is precisely those measures to fulfil needs that are still performed free of charge by many more women than men in so-called private spheres that are not mentioned at all in economics, or only in a distorted, marginalised way. What are the consequences of this omission? To answer this question, the theologian Ina Praetorius takes a journey through the history of Western ideas in her essay "Economy is Care" and shows the deep roots of an unjust, two-tiered order in our economic and social organisation.
