Who / How cooks and cares has a system! - Feminist economic criticism

Kalender-Icon 21. March 2018
With Ann Wiesental, Netzwerk Care Revolution Capitalist logic not only divides people into excluded and exploitable, it also divides activities and work into segregated and capitalised. In addition to the violent exclusion of the "superfluous" and the inclusion of the exploitable, it also relies on the feminisation of activities that are unpaid and invisibly pushed into the private sphere and the capitalisation of activities, which is currently also increasingly evident in areas of social reproduction, such as healthcare and care. Feminist critics of economics address this logic under the heading of the crisis of social reproduction and thus show that the inherent capitalist contradictions between profit maximisation and social reproduction can never lead to a good life for all people. This is because it is inherent in the capitalist system that social reproduction (healthcare, care, childcare, assistance, education) is not at the centre and that there can be no needs-based care for all under capitalism. In response, the Care Revolution network calls for care struggles. Organised by anti-fascists from the Ruhr area Start: 7.30 p.m. Admission free!
