Care work characterises our lives. It is the condition for us to be able to live well together.
At the same time, it puts many people under additional pressure.
We want to make this visible and tangible. This is the only way to bring about change and improvements.

Invitation to a discussion evening

"Who Cares? Care work in all areas of life - making the invisible visible"

When: Thursday, 15 May 2025, 8 pm

Where: Shop for Culture and Politics, Kaiserstr. 62, 69115 Heidelberg-Weststadt

Who cooks, cleans, cares, listens, organises everyday life - and who notices? Care work is everywhere: in families, in friendships, in neighbourhoods, in care, in social professions. It keeps our society running, but often remains invisible and un(under)paid.

At this open discussion evening, we want to talk together about experiences, challenges and possible changes. What does care work mean for each and every one of us? How can it be distributed more fairly and better recognised? What political and social changes are needed?

We cordially invite you to join us for an exchange and joint reflection over snacks and drinks. We talk, listen and strengthen ourselves. Everyone is welcome - whether with their own experiences, questions or just to listen.

Michaela Schadeck will be our guest at our first round of talks. She is the Managing Director of Individualhilfe - Ambulanter Dienst gGmbH, of which Individualhilfe für Schwerbehinderte e.V. is a shareholder.
The non-profit organisation is committed to helping people with physical disabilities who are dependent on care to live independently within their own four walls. At its heart is the outpatient service, an assistance service that offers everything from kindergarten and school support to study assistance and personal assistance for adults with physical disabilities at work, during leisure time, when travelling and in everyday life.
Michaela Schadeck is also dependent on assistance herself. For her, the topic of care work is therefore a professional focus and at the same time she herself makes use of support and care and is an assistance recipient.
To begin with, Michaela Schadeck will give us an insight into her life and share her personal and professional experiences on the topic of care with us.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Admission is free. Registration via rhein-neckar@care-revolution.org

Further open discussion evenings are planned for 16 July and 21 October 2025.
