8 March - Women's Struggle Day in Freiburg

As every year, two alliances in Freiburg organised activities for 8 March in 2019. Care Revolution took part with a stand on the town hall square in the morning and at lunchtime as well as at the demonstration in the evening. So everything was the same as always and yet different: this time, 8 March was declared Women's Strike Day by feminists nationwide in order to draw more attention to the overburdening of women* through reproductive and wage labour and the poor division of labour between the sexes. This at least led to much greater commitment and more participation in the actions. For example, young and old women* took part in the nationwide sit-in strike 5 to 12 in front of the town hall. The demonstration was also twice as big as last year with 1500 to 2000 participants and was a lot of fun.
