Care as a focal point of the feminist strike week in Osnabrück

In cooperation with many groups and individuals, the Osnabrück Women's Strike Alliance has organised a diverse week of events for 8 March 2022. As Bloody Maries, we are cooperation partners of the Care Revolution network and are pleased that the topic of care has once again been included as a focus of the strike this year. We will be there on 1 March with an information stand under the motto. "And who do you have your back to?" on Equal Care Day in Osnabrück city centre. With our colourful stand, a care quiz and other hands-on activities, we were able to draw the attention of many people to the topic and met with a great deal of interest. We continued with a presentation on the "Berlin hospital movement - when the capital goes on strike unnoticed", in which a strike participant told us about the dynamics of the strike, the demands, the negotiations and the successes. We now hope that our neighbours in NRW are similarly successful and would like to take this opportunity to send our solidarity greetings! On 8 March, we took to the streets twice. Firstly, we went on a warning strike with the nursery school teachers and social workers, in which over 100 employees took part. We were invited to give a speech and were pleased to be able to contribute our perspective on care and the desire for a needs-orientated economy. Later that day, we went out to the 8th March demonstration. With around 250 people, we marched through the city and were also able to raise the issue of care with a speech. Empowered and with many new contacts and impulses, we ended 8 March with good food and a cosy atmosphere in the women's pub.
