Care Revolution launches "Space for Care" campaign

Aktuelles – 17. October 2020
The Care Revolution network is launching preparations for the "Space for Care" campaign with this appeal. We are calling on initiatives and individuals to join us in organising a "Platz für Sorge" campaign in as many places as possible in 2021. Decentralised, large and small high-profile activities are to take place firstly around 8 March, secondly on Sunday 13 June and thirdly before the federal elections in mid to late September. They are intended to draw public attention to the fact that care work oriented towards human needs belongs at the centre of our society and that the demands of the care movement must finally be implemented. We would be delighted if alliances could be formed in as many towns and villages as possible to participate in the "Platz für Sorge" campaign on the basis of this appeal. For example, we can imagine a public square being occupied on 8 March and renamed Platz der Sorge. However, we can also imagine inviting people to a public event around 8 March to discuss the demands set out in the appeal on a broad basis and to gain new supporters. The main action is planned for Sunday 13 June. It would be great to see care workers, employees in hospitals, daycare centres or retirement homes, as well as family care workers with their children and relatives in need of support, celebrating, discussing, dancing, exchanging ideas, taking part in workshops, eating, painting and playing together - in other words, doing everything that makes life interesting - in as many places as possible in Germany. The final event for 2021, in which we also want to carry our positions into the Bundestag election campaign, is then to take place in mid to late September, where possible in a public place. The next step, before the end of this year, is for interested people from local initiatives, organisations, parties and trade unions to come together for an initial meeting, also online, in order to start working out the right concept for the respective location. People who are not active in Care Revolution are also welcome to provide impetus. If you are interested in participating, please contact us at care-revolution@riseup.net. Please also write to us if you have had any initial experiences with the alliance meetings. That way we can learn from each other. The more we manage to do together, the more influence we can have on the media.
