Campaign Room for Care

In October 2020, the Care Revolution network launched the "Platz für Sorge" campaign. Parents, carers, people with health restrictions, social workers, family carers and people who care about a future worth living and a good life for everyone are involved in "Platz für Sorge".

The coronavirus crisis has reminded us of this once again: Care work is indispensable - yet paid and unpaid care work has yet to be recognised and our society has yet to be restructured to create better care conditions.

In the 2021 election year, we are trying to organise alliances in as many cities as possible, each of which can issue its own call with a different focus. We are particularly interested in improvements for care workers in families and care facilities. This includes a reduction in working hours, an unconditional basic income and comprehensive collective agreements in the care sector. We are also committed to the socialisation and democratisation of care facilities, improving the situation of refugees and limiting the production of goods in line with the earth's carrying capacity. On a national level, we agree on dates when we will go out in public at the same time if possible. This is intended to encourage each other, but also to increase the visibility of the "Platz für Sorge" activities.

We take "Space for Care" and demand it: Care work oriented towards human needs belongs at the centre of our society!

The campaign was launched on 8 March 2021 in various cities with a wide range of activities. In many places, public squares were renamed "Platz für Sorge" (Square for Care), and militant lunch breaks and rallies were held in front of care facilities. Various groups fighting for climate justice, the right to the city, freedom of movement and solidarity with refugees took part in "Platz für Sorge" and shared their perspectives on care work in speeches.
