Care and peace - vigils

The Heidelberg Peace Alliance and the Heating, Bread and Peace Initiative have been organising a vigil in the centre of Heidelberg every Monday for almost a year. Members of Care Revolution regularly take part.

War kills and destroys our livelihoods. People all over the world suffer from war and its consequences. War leads to hunger, poverty, flight and mental suffering. Many people are helplessly at the mercy of the escalation spiral. There is a growing danger that war will lead to a nuclear catastrophe. The climate catastrophe is fuelled by wars.

The Care Revolution network, on the other hand, is committed to a good life for everyone worldwide. We are fighting for social framework conditions that enable successful care relationships for all people - not on the backs of others and within planetary boundaries. This cannot be guaranteed by war.
We need a world order that puts life at the centre and focuses on solidarity.

That is why we care revolutionaries are also protesting against armament and militarisation. We call for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations in all war zones. We stand for peaceful, climate-just and solidarity-based coexistence.

Rally for Safe Abortion Day on 28 September.

The Care Revolution Rhein Neckar alliance took part. Below is an excerpt from a member's speech:

"Our goal is true self-determination, every person should have the opportunity to make their own decisions about their and/or their body. However, this is not in the interests of the capitalist logic of exploitation. It is in the interests of a revolutionary movement that seeks to join forces to act in solidarity with all oppressed people and prioritise the needs of all, care instead of capital. Care Revolution demands a rethink from capitalist exploitation to a needs-orientation. We need to make care and reproductive labour more visible and think differently about work in general.

When it comes to abortion, the basic self-determination of unintentionally pregnant women is restricted if it cannot be carried out legally and easily. Care is needed, and unintentionally pregnant women and their needs must be focussed on. No one has the right to control another person's body. Although this issue directly affects only the person concerned, who is left alone with it, it indirectly affects society as a whole. Because we have to ask ourselves where we stand when it is considered acceptable to decide what someone else is allowed to do with their body. Women's rights, girls' rights, the rights of people who can become pregnant, the rights of all those oppressed by patriarchy are being restricted and their needs made invisible. So let's bring them back into the light and stand up together for self-determination for ALL!"

Seebrücke Heidelberg, demonstration on 20.06.
Away with barbed wire and prisons - against the reform of the common European asylum system - a complete gutting of the human right to asylum.

Seebrücke Heidelberg has called for a demonstration on 20 June to mark the reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). Care Revolution Rhein Neckar took part and supported the call. From the call text:

"On 8 June, the interior ministers of the EU member states voted on a new reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). The key point of this reform is that in future asylum applications will be processed centrally throughout the EU, namely at the EU's external borders. The whole thing is supposedly intended to simplify the processing of asylum applications, but in practice it means that the fiction of non-entry is to be applied. This means that the refugees are de facto on European soil, but are legally deemed not to have entered the country. They are imprisoned for this. In detention, a quick decision is then made on their asylum application and, if necessary, they are deported immediately. The extent to which legal standards of fair proceedings are guaranteed is more than questionable. ....

We demand:

  • No mandatory border procedures at the EU's external borders!
  • No lowering of the requirements for "safe third countries"!
  • No continuation of the failed Dublin system!
  • No approval of the planned tightening of asylum laws within the EU! Nancy Faeser: don't be a Horst!"
