1,200 demonstrators, an impressive crowd, gathered in Dortmund for International Women's Day and Feminist Day of Struggle. The first rally began at Friedensplatz in glorious weather and pleasant temperatures. It was introduced with singing by the choir of Bezent e.V., which belongs to the DIDF (Federation of Democratic Workers' Associations), in Turkish and Kurdish and with the song Bread and Roses by the demonstrators. The central speeches here were held under the motto 'Antimilitarism'. The name of the square impressively emphasises the content of the speeches.

The next location to be visited was the municipal clinics. The rally opened with an expression of solidarity for the midwives. It was directed against the deterioration in the economic situation of independent midwives as a result of the new midwifery aid contract. The care system for midwives in private practice was also discussed. This was followed by two speeches on care work. In their speech, the Dortmund regional group of the Care Revolution network emphasised that no society can function without care work. This speech is documented below as a PDF.

The rally in Westpark concluded with speeches on femicide and violence against queer people.

The demo ended with the song PATRIA(R) CIAO!

The demo was organised in just two months by the Brot&Rosen alliance with technical support from ver.di.

The banner slogan

- OVERLOADED, UNSEEN, UN(TER)PAID -
If we women lay down our labour, the world will stand still. Overcome capitalism and patriarchy

was the tenor of the entire demonstration.
