Against racism and in favour of diversity in care - event in Heidelberg

Aktuelles – 29. March 2022 – Action
As part of the International Week against Racism, Care Revolution Rhein Neckar took up the topic of racism in nursing and was able to win Sun-Young Yang-Scharf for a lecture and discussion on 25 March under the provocative title: "...but I'm looking for a REAL nurse!" Sun Young Yang-Scharf was born in South Korea and has lived in Germany for many years. Among other things, she was head of a ward in a hospital and currently manages a base in the field of outpatient palliative care / outpatient hospice and palliative counselling service. Ms Yang-Scharf gave an impressive account of the subtle and structural racism that is experienced in the healthcare system on a daily basis and discussed strategies to combat it. She has been campaigning against racism and in favour of diversity in care for years with talks at specialist events and articles in specialist journals as well as training events. She encourages colleagues to take a stand and supports management/supervisors in creating appropriate structures. You can read more here.
