Climate strike demonstration in Freiburg on 25.3.22

On 25 March, a pleasingly large number of people in Freiburg took part in the climate strike demonstration organised by Fridays for Future. The organisers counted 8,000 participants, the police 5,000. Once again, we took part as 'Platz für Sorge Freiburg' with our banner. Unfortunately, there weren't many of us, mostly from Care Revolution, but also from the Solidarity Healthcare Network, the Green Youth and Independent Women Freiburg. We walked through the city centre for two hours and enjoyed the weather and the solidarity. Care Revolution Freiburg had advertised the climate strike and the care block from our perspective in advance with a flyer that we had designed in the Care - Climate - Revolution working group. The tenor: it is the capitalist social system, with its focus on growth, competition and cost minimisation, that ruthlessly over-exploits ecosystems and - in particular unpaid - care work. That is why we are setting out to find something better than this social system and are relying on cooperation between the climate justice and care movements.
