Action Conference 2014

The Care Revolution Action Conference took place in Berlin from 14 to 16 March 2014. Over 400 people came together over the weekend to discuss their debates and struggles in care work. The common starting point was the desire to re-evaluate and reorganise social reproductive work. In recent feminist debates, the attempt has been made to summarise paid and unpaid reproductive work under the term care. This is intended to adapt a classic concept of reproduction to current social conditions and open up new perspectives, particularly in political practice. Over three days, the heterogeneous group of participants discussed the situation and debates in education and upbringing, health and care, as well as food and housing. According to the participants, care and caring work should receive more social recognition and human needs and interests should take centre stage. In addition to the joint debate and networking, the participants also made their own demands and positions visible. A demonstration followed by a rally through Friedrichshain took place on Saturday afternoon.
