How 2 Strike. Event on care work in the women's strike

Kalender-Icon 27. January 2019
This event is organised by NaturFreundeJugend Berlin with Care Revolution and other guests. You can find more information here. Discussions about gender and work have turned many a thought from the Marxist head to the feminist feet: Reproductive labour, care and caring activities, affective and sexual labour have become central concepts. Now the practice of industrial action also needs to be used in a feminist way, but what does a strike mean if you can't simply switch off the machine or leave your desk? How can other effects of strikes - politicisation, networking, solidarity, support and publicity - be achieved? And how can permanently gendered structures in the division of labour be broken down? As part of the nationwide networking for the Women's Strike 2019, Naturefriends Youth Berlin invites you to a panel discussion with theorists and activists. Together we want to find out how a women's strike can work in the sense of a How 2 Women's Strike. If you want to come but have children to look after, get a babysitter! We will pass around a strike fund and make sure that the costs are covered together. We will also set up a play corner with books, toys, pens and paper for the older children at the back of the room. The event will be in German. If you need a translation please contact us(karlotta@naturfreundejugend-berlin.de). The event will be held in German. If you need a translation please contact us.
