UmCare - Care and Health Strategy Conference

Kalender-Icon 16. October 2015
Nursing and healthcare are massively affected by the neoliberal reorganisation of the welfare state. Those who cannot afford it are increasingly excluded from needs-based care. Employees in turn suffer from stress, low wages and precarious working conditions. The pressure is also increasing for those who care for relatives or friends. We need a fundamental change of perspective, a UmCARE!Together with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and the DIE LINKE parliamentary group in the Bundestag, the Care Revolution network is organising a strategy conference on care and health in Berlin. At the conference, we want to discuss and develop joint strategies with relatives and people in need of care, employees, trade unions and social organisations: How can we find ways to exit this system? How can we create a needs-based infrastructure that is financed in a spirit of solidarity and organised democratically? How do we defend ourselves against the precarisation of living and working conditions? How do we combine trade union industrial action with the concerns of those who are dependent on care and support? What do powerful, innovative alliances look like?
