The necessary global socio-ecological reorganisation

Aktuelles – 27. August 2025

Elfriede Harth, active in the Rhine/Main regional group of the Care Revolution network, presented ideas for discussion on 21 August 2025 in the "Drüber gebabbelt" series of events organised by the Hesse Development Policy Network, in which she began by describing the fundamental dependence of people on each other and on the ecological cycles of life. She describes how the capitalist mode of production uses and exploits this basis, care work and ecosystems, and at the same time threatens to destroy them. Elfriede Harth describes the internal dynamics of capitalism and concludes that this mode of production must be countered by "a care-centred society in which it is not profit but the satisfaction of human needs that determines whether and what is produced". Because this text is somewhat longer than can be read comfortably on a mobile phone or screen, but is well worth reading and printing out, you can find it here as a PDF.
