"Space for Care" campaign launched with 14 initiatives in Osnabrück

Aktuelles – 11. March 2021
In Osnabrück, the local women's strike alliance called for action in the city centre this year as part of the "Platz für Sorge" campaign. In the run-up to the event, there was not only a great poster campaign with 3 different collages on the topic, but also calls to strike chalked on the ground. 150 people came together on 8 March from 3-6 p.m. on Theaterplatz to express their demands creatively, loudly and militantly. In numerous speeches, various groups and individuals highlighted different key issues of gender injustice - always centred on the central demand for a revolution in care work, in the context of which the venue was renamed from "Platz der Deutschen Einheit" to "Platz für Sorge". There was also a quiz on the situation of women and an information table with various flyers, brochures and self-printed patches. In Osnabrück, the demands of the "Platz für Sorge" campaign are supported by the Women's Strike Alliance and 13 other local groups and initiatives. Due to the pandemic, the renaming was streamed live on the internet. In the coming days, all speeches will also be published as audio on our social media channels.
