1 May 2022 in Frankfurt - Invisible Labour Day

Aktuelles – 01. May 2022 – Action
As in previous years, we from Care Revolution in Frankfurt once again took part in the May Day demonstration organised by the trade unions. After two arduous years of the Covid-19 pandemic, which exposed the irresponsible stinginess of neoliberal policies in terms of the framework conditions and infrastructure of public services of general interest, the war in Ukraine and the government's planned spending of 100 billion euros on armaments was one of the defining themes of 1 May. Virtually overnight, central positions of post-war policy were abandoned and a militarism believed to be dead was reawakened. The activists in our regional group agree that Russia's invasion of Ukraine cannot be justified and that the Ukrainian civilian population should be given every support. Resistance against injustice is important and necessary. The personal decision of partisans and resistance fighters to fight against an internal or external enemy is something quite different from a war organised by rulers who do not take up arms themselves but send other people to the front to kill. The 100 billion euros of taxpayers' money that the arms industry is to receive to produce machines of destruction are urgently needed elsewhere. Christine Rudolf, after an exchange in a group of Care Revolution activists, has compiled a list of infrastructures that are necessary for our good coexistence in an article . We want to continue to work to ensure that care workers are seen and valued and that they receive the support they need to make daily life possible for everyone. 12 May is International Care Day!
